I was able to get a couple shots of the Buffelhead at the pond. There were 2 Buffleheads the first day I saw them, but now I only see one. Could they be nesting? Do the male and female look alike? It seemed that the 2 I saw looked exactly the same.

I hope for this to be a place to dish about peoples' passions. What keeps you going and what gets you through the day? What are your thoughts?

The females don't have as much white on the head. A white slash, reminiscent of war paint. It's possible a female is on a nest nearby, although it looks like they should go farther north for that.
I'm worried that something happened to the second duck. When I'm walking at night, I'll hear rumblings at the pond..ducks quacking and such. I know we have a fox or two so maybe the duck was eater? Wouldn't the other fly away? Is it waiting for it's mate that might never return? I am hoping for a group of baby Buffleheads! Like you said, I think they nest further north.
The other one may have just migrated, too. Maybe the stupid one stayed, lol.
